About the President/Lead Instructor

Coach Kevin Meredith was born and raised in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. In the Frederick area, he is simply known as "Coach Kevin". He went to high school at Largo HS in Upper Marlboro Maryland. After Largo, he tried out for the basketball team at Prince Georges Community College. This was his first time playing organized basketball. From there he went on to earn a basketball scholarship to Livingstone College in Salisbury NC.

He had to drop out of college to care for his ailing mother, and the following year he was married. He has been married for 16 years and he and his wonderful wife, Marsha, have had nine beautiful children together; Christian, Gabriel, Jonah, Micah, Benjamin, Hannah, Rebekah, Sarah, and Hope. Throughout these formative family years he has coached basketball and done personal training in many places around the D.C. Metro area.

Coach Kevin and his family now reside and are well entrenched in the Frederick Community.

Kevin currently works for Frederick County Parks and Recs as a Sports Instructor/Assistant Director. He is also the Assistant Coach for the Crestwood Cavaliers Boys JV Basketball Rec team, as well as the Head Coach for the Tuscarora Titans Girls JV Basketball team. He is also a Co-founder and U13 Head Coach of the areas new AAU basketball club “Suns for Life”. He and his wife and children attend Mosaic Church which meets at Frederick Community College where they serve in the children’s and youth ministries. God, Family, and Church/Community are the most important things in Coach Kevin’s life. He looks forward to serving your families in our striving towards BASKETBALL EXCELLENCE!

The Vision

The vision for this organization was birthed out of my passion to see our youth stimulated towards a spirit of basketball excellence in their thinking and work ethic. I am a big fan, teacher, and lover of the sport of basketball. After much encouragement from players whom I’ve coached and their parents, I decided to take my passion for youth and love for the sport, to help young people achieve their basketball dreams. I want to add value in my teaching and coaching, not simply in the teaching of basketball, but also in the lives of the young people around the county.

While basketball is ever-increasing in its worldwide popularity, there is a major disconnect with how our children are learning and playing the game. The gap between kids wanting to play basketball and actually growing in the sport is tremendous. I think most of the children believe that if they can execute the moves on X Box or Playstation, they can do it on a real basketball court. SMILE! BEAF exist to bridge the chasm and create opportunities for real growth for those kids who really love the sport of basketball.

We intend to help build up young people in basketball by executing our three points of emphasis:
1.  Camps & Clinics
2.  Personal Training
3.  High Level Training.
